Was just wondering with Bob in lockdown for best part of year will that mean he turns to writing songs? Seems pretty likely to me, what else could he do. Logically this potentially means new Rats songs and possible a new album sooner than we can have expected.
Still not a big fan of Citizens. Maybe I'm just hoping that a new set of songs, written during the enforced and unforeseen long layoff will rekindle the true spirit of the band. It's a big ask but in lots of ways the covid crisis could bring out something in Geldof's songwriting, either solo or with the Rats.
Theres also the 'making up for lost time' factor that might lead to another album. Or will we just get more ho hum Bob solo stuff passed off as The Boomtown Rats?

As it generally takes about ten years for Geldof to make a new LP these days i wouldnt expect too much.
However, he did write about 26 songs for the last LP, so every chance of a special edition later this year. Suspect it will be the Postcard (hot mix), No Tomorrow and another 8 tracks bundled with the original LP in umpteen configurations with signed set lists on https://boomtownrats.tmstor.es/

Anyway, nice to see you back after your hiatus.
I'd love to hear some of the songs they decided not to use on Citizens. I wonder how many I would swap with the album they decided to go with?
I've been really busy with work and to be honest all things Rat related was eating into my time.I decided to take down the songs from YouTube for my own sake because I was almost compulsively checking viewing stats multiple times per day. I even blocked this site because again the compulsion to constantly check seemed something I had no control over. It was verging on obsessive. Amusingly the blocking app would display a message saying 'stop wasting your time and be more productive ' everytime I tried to go to a site I had forbidden. I blocked all the other Rats related sites too ie Jules Geldof Facebook., Citizens, and Scotties Twitter.
I've enjoyed Geldof's version of I'm Tired Joey Boy more than most of the songs on Citizens of Boomtown. Sweet Thing sounded good when I listened to recently. Monster Monkeys is the only song I really rate, though I know some are not that keen on it. KISS is so awful I just have to stop it on the few occasions I have come back for a reassessment. Trash Glam Baby, I feel ,is still weak, I would say their worst single, and yes I prefer Charmed Lives if I'm being honest.

I prefer Charmed Lives to Trash Glam Baby as well. Cant even listen to it. Ditto the eponymous song. KISS I fast forward when rap starts. And I skip rock n roll ye ye. Otherwise, its a pretty good LP!
Not sure if they recorded any of the other songs, may have been just 26 ideas, 10 of which were taken up. Otherwise why put the eponymous song in again.
Hi Noel - great to see you back. But funny how we all differ on some of the songs. I think TGB is brilliant and like KISS as well very much. I thought your YouTube uploads were excellent too.
I certainly agree that everyone's preferences on the Citizens CD is very different. I personally love KISS, not particularly keen on MONSTER MONKEYS or THE BOOMTOWN RATS (the song not the group!!!) and the other songs for me are all 7, 8s and 9s.

I watched one of those live on line Bob Geldof talks and he said that Pete has about 18 or 19 finished songs. The question is will they ever see the light of day?

Almost certainly. Expect a deluxe Citizens in time for the tour.
Just noticed Rats official site from a few days ago saying the band is 'working on something at the moment, but can't give too much details'. Wonder what that is?
Sorry was editing post, didn't mean to sent it twice. Perhaps it's a new single or else an extended Citizens of Boomtown issue. Though with all the gigs being cancelled you'd wonder what the point of it is.

So were there any details at all? The official site is total sh!te. What is the point of writing "the band is working on something at the moment, but can't give too much details ?
As an aside, I am working on something but cant give you any details about it at all

I wouldnt be surprised. There are a couple of remixes already for Heres a Postcard. And the B-Side. Probably due another extended mix of the eponymous song (sigh).
