40 years since this masterpiece was released I remember it well  the cover is very distinctive  and listening to it on a cold December night wish it had done better but hey that's how it goes

Such a fantastic song. I recall Mike Read on Radio One being baffled when it was clear it had stiffed at 62. The sleeve was distinctively different (with the large Latin 1 followed by six cut out holes for the zeros in 1,000,000) but might have been a marketing error making the product hard to spot in the record shops.

Don't Talk To Me also great on the b side. You stitch me up and I'm tailor-made is a class line! Up there with Flirt with death but never kiss her, Justice isn't blind, it just looks the other way and Everybody tries, it's Dale Carnegie gone wild.

I must say that I thought at the time that this would definitely be a top 10 hit. Peaking at 62 was criminal and weird. Also forgot about DON'T TALK TO ME which was a fantastic song too. What a great double and yet never did anything. Very strange and a great shame.

I actualy like Charmed Lives than NIAMY.Bob sings well but the last 3rd of the song is way to boring to catch me.

I've only heard two live versions of this. London Hammersmith June 82, and another one , possibly Glastonbury 85. Both are more or less straight reproductions of the record, no bum notes or lazy shortcuts, which is pretty amazing. I must look up other renditions of one of my favourite Rats songs. Probably played it on V Deep tour.

Where is your live version from Mike? I have London 82, and Sc_unthorpe Free Festival 85. Would be interested in obtaining any other versions, must check the bootlegs.

Got a free remastered version of the Tokyo 80 concert. Some guy has done up the sound.
