Has Dublin Rock gone full circle?

I went to see Fontaines D.C. last night at Alexandra Palace and it put me in mind of The Boomtown Rats circa 1980.  I Love You is as scathing an attack on Ireland as Banana Republic was back in the day, and there was a vibe that was akin to what I imagine Leixlip was back then. Incredible live band like the Rats were in their day. Dogrel is not dissimilar to the Rats debut with its Dublin focus and the current LP Romance has echoes of A Tonic for the Troops with the band widening their appeal.   Cant wait to see them again next summer.

A band from Dublin with 'modern' in the title of their third single. It only bodes well.
