Saw this in the TV Times. It reminded me of the 1980s when I would see the group's name in a magazine in the newsagents and get a dopamine hit!

I got TV Times about two weeks ago, but never checked who was playing on Hootenanny.  Didn't expect Boomtown Rats for sure.   I suspect the Rats will be on TV a lot in 2025.  Need to shift a lot of tickets.  Mary Wallopers did well out of their appearance last year with sold out gigs all over the place.

It would be good to think such a correlation occurs for the Rats. I remember seeing Marc Almond on it previously (it's been going since the mid 90s), Madness and Dexys Midnight Runners. They all performed number one hits. Dexys chose Eileen.

Will the Rats choose Mondays or Rat Trap.? Considering his prowess as a pianist, Jools will surely want to go with Mondays? Or is it possible Fingers is in recirculation for the big 50th and will turn up in his PJs? They do like to pretend it's a live late night show after all!

I doubt Fingers would be involved given recent history, but sure he would prefer Mondays as he now gets royalties.

I would expect Mondays to trump Rat Trap, and every chance Jools plays it.  I also expect Trash Glam Baby.

Worth nothing Dexy's performed both Geno and Come On Eileen along with another song in 2013.  However, without a sax, probably best steer clear of Rat Trap. Someone's Looking, perhaps?

PS it is already recorded so obviously someone knows...

Did they? I don't remember Geno, but back then I was mid 40s and came back from a party rather worse for wear!

Someone's Looking At You would be epic. It heralded 1980 on the Kenny Everett show when it was an album track. Then it got released  as a single and was shown again weeks later. Then in April 80, Everett had them on again with the forever album track and compilation favourite Keep It Up. Cott playing an oversized guitar and Ray, the roving cameraman, getting a custard pie in the face for his birthday!

It wont be a Hootenanny without a group rendition of Auld Lang Syne I suppose.
