  2. My Blues Away 1975 live demo
  3. A Second Time 1975 live demo
  4. Fanzine Hero 1975 live demo
  5. Barefootin Live at Moran's Hotel, Dublin 1975
  6. Born To Burn
  7. Do The Rat
  8. Lying Again
  9. How Do You Do
  10. So Strange

  12. Late Last Night

Anything else would be amazing!

As the leader of The Boomtown Rats, Bob Geldof led his band of Dublin new-wavers right to the very top of the UK charts. But before that perfect power-pop, there was something raw and very dirty.

For the first time on vinyl, their live demo tapes from 1975-1979 are heard. It was the recording that finally found its way to the desks of Nigel Grainge and Chris Hill at Ensign Records when the group relocated to the UK in October the following year. The four tracks are complimented with a live performance at Moran's Hotel, just off Dublins OConnell Street; Robert Parker's Barefootin' is delivered with a raucous energy that nods to both the Stooges and Dr Feelgood. The collection is rounded out with a selection of B-sides, many of which have never appeared on CD or LP. These have been much sought-after by fans over the years.

On lurid sewer-like transparent green vinyl, hear The Boomtown Rats as they were first heard. Edgy, dangerous, spiky and fast. DAWN OF THE RATS: B-SIDES, DEMOS AND LIVE 1975-1979 is a perfect re-introduction to one of the most singular bands ever to originate from Eire, the greatest rocknroll band in the world (from Dun Laoghaire).

Definitely. If I had to choose one or the other Dawn of The Rats is the one I would buy.  I wonder if DUN LAOGHAIRE will be on it as well.

If they reissue In The Long Grass, will it be called Lawn of the Rats. And heaven forbid they reissue the Ratlife EP, Yawn of the Rats.

Got mine after an hour queuing at Rough Trade East. Quite stressful as the LP wasn't on the Picking List, so it was fingers crossed. Was talking to two people in the queue who were delighted I got it

Next year, Sunset of The Rats, starting with Late Last Night.
Have to play and see if Do The Rat is the original B-side with Pinky and co.

Been a very expensive week buying records.  Bowie, Pulp, Suede to add to the Rats has cost me over £200.  Have to stay away from record shops, but there is the limited edition this weekend only copy of the Pulp LP that I need to resist the urge to purchase online...

A long time since I heard it, but Born to Burn isnt exactly as I remember it.   The version on Dawn of the Rats is different and probably better!

I have to dig out the white vinyl Mondays and check what version was on that. Also it was on a 3 inch CD, but I never had that.
