i was just looking on bobi G's profile out of interest and was looking on the threads he had started. one of them was called "i iz blogged" . so i clicked on it and it told me that the thread was on a private forum.
i have a couple of questions:
1. what is discussed in that forum?
2. what kind of members are allowed on it?
3. why is it so private if it has threads like "i iz blogged" on it (sorry bobi g if it was a serious thread )
4. what is the thread mentioned about?.
i am really sorry if i've put my foot over the line i probably deserve a virtual clip around the ear for this. But i'm very curious because i've seen private forums mentioned before and seeing as i'm not allowed in them, i have know idea why they are there.
The private part of the forum is for administrative use, Cassy. This is where administrators discuss whether we should delete a post or ban someone.
The fact that you can see the threads listed even if they are private is a flaw of the system. We know of this flaw so we are careful not to use serious or descriptive subjects like "Should we ban Cassy for snooping around" (I'm just KIDDING).
As for who has access and how, it's decided by ArrGee and myself. It includes administrators and some long time members who would be admins but don't have the time, but will offer advice from times to times.

First of all, I am delighted that you are interested enough to snoop around and find out about Bobi G!
Let me give you some history. At the time of Live 8, there were a number of new posters who were causing "trouble" (well, saying things Geldof wouldn't like). Tina sent PMs to a number of forum members to express the thoughts of, ahem, Bob's management.
What I did was to set up a private forum for a few "trusted" forum members. These were very well known to MJ and myself, and we debated many board related issues. This would include stuff like the Geldof website, banning users (only 10 have ever been banned, and their sins were unforgivable!), the rules of the forum and so on. Ironically enough, it was a thread on this PRIVATE forum that led to the disassociation with nogeldof.info; though it appears there IS info on there now. The need for the private forum has somewhat dimished in recent days, but it does serve a useful vehicle for administrators to discuss issues that are board related.
The I iz blogged thread was a thread about alternative content to nogeldof.info in light of their decision to remove our link. I will move this thread to the main board as it may be of interest to a wider group.
There are many forum members who have interesting content that would make a fine Geldof blog. If you have reviews, opinions or dare I say it pictures, then it would be good to make a blog out of them for general consumption. I'll have a word with Bobi G.
oh cool thankyou so much for explaining :D. i'm so sorry that i went snooping . >_< but i was curious and i had wondered how the baning of people etc was decided :) all makes sense now :D thankyou very much,

I've got to second ArrGee's advice, and don't believe anyone who tells you 'curiosity killed the cat'.
Me too, you have a right to ask anything or look at anything. No-one will ban you for it. They wouldn't have done before, but we are freer now than we were then too
