I keep hearing it in trendy clothes shops - not that I ever buy clothes from them.

At the time of release I didn't think much of the song, but it still sounds modern and fresh even today. It's very different to any other song I've ever heard.

What's think?

Trendy Clothes!  I haven't had any for seven years since my son was born.

I always liked the song (and its close cousin House on Fire).  When I first heard it I couldn't believe it was the Rats (same when I heard Mondays), but it clicked straight away.

It is great protest song, though the changes in Ireland over the last 25 years make the lyrics a little dated, even if the song does stand up.    Always found it odd that it often thought that it refers to the troubles in the North rather than the Republic.  Ain't too many priests up there!

I much prefer the snappier 7" single version to the drawn out album version (and the other version that turns up on the Best of).  There is a good live version on one of the 12" singles from In the Long Grass (Dave I think).

I love this song and it's on my Rats compilation.  I used to love House On Fire too but for some reason suddenly went of it in a big way.  I think it was the over bearing jazzy bit.

I think it was played as an encore in Stuttgart 2002. Anyway I always think of this particular concert as the song was played very beautiful there. This song was always one of my favourites and it's still almost impossible for me to listen to it without moving and jumping around.

Which trendy clothes shops might these be? Maybe I'll pay a visit if I'm guaranteed to hear Banana Republic (one of my favourite Rats songs). If not I'll just put it on on my iPod...
