Bobs 2 shows in Denmark have been called of.At nearly £50 a ticket did they really expect to sell many tickets.Only 36 tickets were sold for BOTH shows.Sad,really sad.

That price was ridiculous.

At least they were cancelled this much in advance, I suppose. This is not good though. Did you have tickets? Did anyone? I didn't this time.

36 people had tickets.   I think that 300 in Rome was an exaggeration, probably only 30.  Especially when you consider that many of the 45 in Milan had complimentary tickets.

Forsooth, something is rotten in the state of Geldof

He needs to ditch all his management/ agents and start again completely, playing to smaller, more intimate houses, building up a new fan base, and start singing more of his solo stuff on TV, e.g. Jonathan Ross, Parky. (4 Poofs as a backing group?) I have told him this by the way. He relies too much on other people who are utterly incompetent. Maybe if enough people tell him he will listen. You are right, it is very sad. Hopefully in the future he will bounce back with a new album worth listening to. (not that the others weren't) He has overcome more difficult times than this before. He should take some time off to reflect and reconsider his directions. His other works have definitley compromised his music. But who am I to pass judgement? Just a fan.

4 poofs !! The rest of the band might have something to say about that...

So what was Bob's reaction when you told him? I can imagine him being dismissive, but please enlighten me. And when did you tell him?

Maybe I should do another petition - We the undersigned are your fans and request that you sack your management NOW and start playing small venues

I dont think even I would have the courage to tell him to his face. It was by email to a DJ, who was interviewing him on radio. He did refer to a couple of minor points on it, but not those ones.

I'm totally with you on this Scottie. Its up to management & promoters to organise venues etc for concerts. When he played here last year it was a small venue & great atmosphere. I can't remember the ticket prices but they were very reasonable. My friend & I are paying 90euro (about £70) to see Paul Simon in November & Bobs were at least half that...

It is very disappointing isn't it when you are so looking forward to it. I can sympathise hearing Mondays isn't much compensation is it?

It looks like not only Bob's concerts are cancelled.

Geldof tells daughter to cancel show

Saturday, August 19 2006, 12:01 BST - by Daniel Kilkelly
Peaches Geldof was forced to cancel one of her shows earlier this week.

The 17-year-old DJ had been expected to play in London until her father Bob demanded that she get an early night.

"Peaches' DJ outfit, the Trash Pussies, was booked for Thursday at the Grill Rooms in London and people were waiting for them," a source told The Mirror.

"Then Peaches called and said she had to be up early the next day and her dad told her she had to get some sleep."

If you think there isn't enough people at a Geldof concert, than look at this:

Bob infact did change lots of the management at the beging of 2006 new agents the same agents as deal with bryan adams-BUT -Arrgee is right the cost of touring means that very small gigs 300-400 just cannot work lets be fair bob as played lots of small theatre s in recent years but the on cost are high  the p.a.crew - the band- tour manager-hotels flights travel all these things add up  but i know that things are in the pipeline for some 2007 dates so lets just look foward to them

Thanks for the explanation Ian. It does help. Can't wait to see him again (well this Sunday) so will look forward to whatever happens when it happens. Let's hope he finds a way of covering it all.

you sort of hinted at it in geldof farewell gig thread  keeping a band on the road cost money etc -this is of course spot on we will have to see what the new agent does in 2007

Realistically, audiences of more than 300 for a Geldof solo appearance ain't gonna happen.  Take Shepherd's Bush.  Geldof is playing one night in London, so out of a population of 10 million or so, with a couple of ads in Time Out and a page in the Standard, Geldof sells about 250 tickets before the gig is cancelled.  If he can't sell a gig at a big venue in London, where is he going to do it?  Unless he just plays in Germany (and even those appearances included festivals), he ain't going to get those sort of crowds.

Of course he could play 'a small crowd at the back of an Irish pub in the middle of the fcuking desert'. But I can't see that being particularly fulfilling.

We will see what happens in 2007.  He may well play again.  But I doubt he will headline large venues.  He had some things going for him at the end of 2005, but cancelled a number of gigs then due to low sales. The future looks dimmer, not brighter.

If only people had actually heard of his music, it might be a different story. And another CD would be good.

Smaller place usually means less devices and less costs.

Doesn't it cost more to pay for plane tickets after a cancelled concert.

I don't know I never aranged a concert.

Who am I to judge geldof probably I would also be doing the same.
Just I thought he is doing it for his own plesure. It was great listening to how he love to perform live.

I hope I'm wrong and he still loves to perform and to meet his fans.

I could see he was very happy on stage on Tuesday and loved being up there. He always has.

If he love being on stage than the number of fans shouldn't be a problem. In July a guitar would have been just fine.

Imagine bob and a few fans sitting around the fire and singin.
