In the world of Geldof, no concert is 100% certain. I'm not sure anyone will turn up this time. Geldof's comments on the radio with regard to the concert were disparaging to say the least.
I did put it here, as soon as he announced it on Radio 2 recently. It is here somewhere. I don't know if it is invite only or not. I know it is only a 600 seater venue. Maybe with such a small venue, it is invite only. What a great opportunity to do a live DVD here. has nobody ever thought of doing one?
Scottie wrote: He has just finished talking, mostly about the book, but also touched on Milan. He did not seem too concerned about it and was laughing. Italian websites were saying it was sold out. He is going back on 3 October to a 600 theatre to do a free show. Also mentioned an "Italian Fan Club". Will make a new album when he feels like it. Seemed like the same old Bob.
rekamakovics wrote: Well It isn't on the official site. Neither does the Spanish one.
This is on the front page of the official site (scroll down)....
16th September: Bob at MTV day Bologna Italy to speak and to announce 3rd October concert in Milan
My point is, did he actually announce this concert? (hence the confirmed? in the initial post). I checked mtv.it and there was no mention of it. There is no confirmation of the venue. Ok, he mentioned it on Radio 2, but again no real detail on that. And geldof.info said as shown above he was announcing it last Saturday. Is it invite only for those who bought tickets last time? Will they go? Will tickets be on sale?
Lucky, lucky you, girl. Hope you get to meet him. We want some good pics and a full review. And if he says one more time that he will do a new album "when I am ready", tell him we will all be in old folks homes by then!
Well he'll be in an old folks home before me, so he'd better sort one out soon. I hope to meet him at Cheltenham too.
What questions can I ask in Cheltenham?
I don't know who will be going to Milan other that us. Presumably others who from the Italian gigs, but there was only 345 people and not all will be able to make it again. So where are the rest of the 600?
You could ask if he has ever thought of updating his autobiography? I know he has said in the past that he never would. And what authors he likes to read? Is there any passage in a book that has really struck a chord with him and has inspired him? At Glasgow he quoted a passage from a book by a Scottish climber, somebody Murray, who I think died on the mountain. How would he like to be remembered? How does he relax and does he find it hard to relax, being the hyperactive person that he is?(As a teacher of 33 years, I think myself he has ADHD, but don't tell him).
I would like to ask him these things, but will probably never get the chance.
From what I read he's talking about Geldof in Africa. I need to think about askiing about something about that.
If I meet him there I'll mention Milan. If I meet him both times wonder if he'll recognise me the second time. When I saw him twice in a row before he remembered me
I have been at quite a few book festivals in Edinburgh and usually the Q and A session starts off about the book, but quickly descends into a free for all. And nothing is off limits. Does he like Africa because he can be anonymous there? And get some privacy? I have often thought that is the case. Do people there know who he is and what Live aid and Live 8 were all about ? What evidence has he personally seen there that Live aid actually made a difference?
Also you may find you are on the same flight as him and the boys there and back, and Ian and Tina, and Willo maybe. Though Bob will probably be first class.
Unfortunately I can't go. Tina promised to help me to get there, but as usual she lied. I always wanted to see Bob perform live. I don't know when will I have a chance to do that. I'm so depressed.
I can't think of anything Reka other than bypassing the official site and mail Bob's management direct on geldof@msn.com
Explain the situation to them, that you travelled to Milan from Hungary and that Bob himself told you to contact the website, but you have had no help. I can't think of anything else.
you are making heavy accustations there, when did i promise that to you. I do not lie, and i am extremely pissed off with this. Again, we try to do our best, and get kicked in the teeth for doing so. There has been notification on the website for a month about this gig, you havent contacted me in that time.
Please reply direct to me if you have any more to say on this, at admin@bobgeldof.info the msn address also comes to us so it makes no odds where you send your mail, we still get it first.
This job we do, involves dealing with over 300 emails a day, so some do slip through, but if it was important, i would have seen it i am sure.
I hoped that I could go, but there were no bus tickets left and thair isn't a trainto Milano. Somebody please tell Bob thet unfortunatelly Reka from Hungary couldn't make it. Maybe someday I wil have the chance to meet him again and listen to him live.
Sorry Jule it looks like we can't meet in Milano, I will try to travel to London next year. We could meet with you and the others there.
I wanted to meet him so much. I have a ticket now which worths nothing. I will probably can't use it at a nother concert. (Tina didn't reply again, maybe she hasn't got time) Pleas tell Bob if you can that want to meet him sometimes.
And if you can tell him that I gave a Geldof and Rats CD to our Prime Minister (Ferenc Gyurcsany) so maybe he has another fan.
I was there, it wasn't cancelled. It went out live on Italian MTV.
The theatre was full, a 400 seater. People got tickets, either because they had 'compensation' for the other Italian gigs or via an MTV website. I think there was some kind of competition. They were all Geldof fans, they knew all his songs. Only 6 of us from the UK as far as I was aware. I'll write up more later, just got in and am very tired.
The setting for the gig was lovely, it was held in a really nice building and the best part of Milan we saw!
Got to meet Bob and have a couples of kisses and a hug. Lots of photos.
I have lots of photos, some not too good as there was a bright light right behind him! And a pic of him and me . I'll see what I can do so you can see them all.
Let us know when you are coming over, maybe a few us could meet up. Maybe we could all go to Geldof's house for a cup of tea
I've uploaded 10 photos. I can only do 10 at once. They aren't great, the lighting on the stage was quite bright and right behind Bob. It was difficult to get shots without the light behind him.
You can do a slide show. They aren't all of Milan, just the first 10. The ones of Dublin come from someone else (can't remember who and why I've hosted them on my fotothing!) and then there are a couple from Cardiff.
Really good photos, Julie !! Thanks for showing them. Were there many fans after the concert who wanted to get an autograph ? How long did you have to wait ? I wish I would have been able to attend this gig ....you lucky one....
All here are very curious to learn more from you about your "rendez-vous" with Bob !!
You have a major memory problem i think. This is a synopsis of the past couples of weeks with regard to our communication,
You said i had lied to you - I didnt received the email from you with your details as requested to everyone. I did receive everyone else's, why would i leave you out? I asked again for your details.
Willo asked me to contact you and let you know we could et you there. He was going to get you a ticket and pay for you to go, as he has with the others.
You repsonded by telling me you hadn't a valid passport. We told you that you would possibly be able to go by train using your travel permit, and to get your ticket and willo would refund this to you.
You then told me you hadnt any money. That you are a poor student and that you couldnt get your ticket. It was only a couple of days before the concert. What did you want me to do. The offer was there for tickets and refund on travel.
With regard to your comment about Bob doing festival gigs, i have NO remit to organise/contact/book Bob's gigs. We are promoters ourselves. It doesnt work like that. Each Festival will have its own director, they know who they want at their event. So emails from various fans saying book this or book that is not effective.
Reka this is the LAST communication I am entering into with you. I will NOT respond to any emails, forum posts or other communication again. Please dont expect any response from me again.
Please bear with me for the review. I have been nursing a very poorly and elderly pussy cat this week and we had to have her put down last night. I will get round to the review, but I need to get my head round my loss first.
She must have had a wonderful life with a great owner like you.
I know how you feel my dog passed away a few months ago. and the worst she wouldn't have died if a doctor would examined her a week before. (Everyone who has a pet remember if you notice somerthing unusuall take yourpet to the vet.(
She was 16 years old, very beautiful and scared. She suffered for a few days, but not so bad as the last day. She then deteriorated and I couldn't allow her to suffer the night and took her at 10 pm last night to the emergency vet. They offered some treatment which would make her feel better for an hour or so, but there was no point prolonging her agony. I just wanted to do the kinded thing.
I've put a recent picture of Jessie up on my www.photothing.com/julesk which my neighbour took of her in August while I was in Amsterdam. They were looking after her. Yes she only had one eye in the end. She caught an infection 2 Christmases ago and managed to scratch her own eye.
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die...
Geldof said this before the gig in Dubai: "The thing that profoundly excites me still after 30 years is being with my band and playing songs. What comes most naturally to me is to come here and play to anyone who'll see us.

It is probably the one closest to Bob. He says it is like a diary. I can understand why it would mean the most to him. I'd have to think about which solo album was my favourite.
He also said that he thought Sex, Age & Death was the best record he made. He was probably suffering from delusion that day.
He says that quiet alot.. Does anyone here agree?? I personally think Deep in the Heart of Nowhere is his best solo album
The best record he made was one of the Rats first two albums. SAD may be his best solo album, but that would still only put it at 7th in the list of his best albums. Mondo Bongo and V Deep are far better.
And as for DITHON, that is a contender for the worst album ever. By anyone.
