Did anyone enter the competition on Bobgeldof.info website? I did. I'm guessing I wasn't the lucky winner, but nothing has been announced. If you won it let us know!
Dare I say it, Geldof's versions of these songs aren't bad. The Pilgrim in paticular is the best thing he has done in many moons (of course it's the only thing he has done in many moons).
Not sure I ever really liked For The Good Times, (always reminds me of Perry Comatose) though the arrangement echoes Jarvis's Tonite, off his current album.
Not really my cup of tea, but certainly better than a lot of his solo stuff. I suspect if Geldof ever makes another album it will be Geldof covering other people's songs.
I picked this up in Sainsburys quite cheap. I did not get it for Xmas. Got George Michael instead. I agree that The Pilgrim is the best of the two and he could quite easily release it. In the other one he actually sounds (to me, who can't sing for tuppence) a bit flat at times. Maybe I am tone deaf! On the whole it is a good album though.
I was hopeful that I was going to win it. But as I heard nothing I asked for it for Christmas, so I now have it. OK it's not necessarily my kind of music, but it makes a change to hear Bob singing something different!
