Can you cancel at this stage and get some money back? It's a real nightmare and I can thoroughly sympathise with you. You won't get banned for your post for sure.
Our German friends might give a better translation, but this was from an online source:
It does wrong to us to have to communicate to you that for the 08. July 2007 planned concert with Bob Geldof for according to schedule reasons is shifted. We are for the moment at negotiations, in order to find a new date on at the end of 2007. We communicate the new date as fast as possible. All tickets keep your validity.
Reevo, I think you should put these exact points to Ian and Tina and see what reply you get. I am also going to message you with Willo's email. I dont expect he will be very sympathetic.

Probably call you a knobhead if my experience is anything to go by.

Why would you be banned? You have most, if not everyone's sympathies. Back in 2005, this was a hot topic and led to the split with nogeldof.info.

I can assure you all that the current situation and the problems that this has caused will not continue into 2006.
Not only were concerts cancelled in 2006, but now in 2007 it continues. No statement was ever made. No explanations ever given.
Nothing mentioned on bobgeldof.noinfo, but that is not new.My heart goes out to the people who booked tickets, hotels etc and end up with nothing.I´ve been there and knows how it feels and it is one of the reasons Eddy in Italy called it a day.Does Bobs management really know what they are doing?.
Derek The Dane wrote:Does Bobs management really know what they are doing?.
Yes. They do.
The way it works is a promoter/venue/festival liase with the management and decide to stage a concert. The contract is drawn so that the artist is GUARANTEED his fee (with some get out clauses like illness, flood etc. all the stuff they print on the t&c on your ticket that you never read). However it is down to the promoter/venue/festival to raise the cash. For a festival they just dip into the pot, whereas for an indivdual concert the promoter has to sell the tickets (they also make on the bar). If the promoter sells enough tickets he starts to make a profit, however if the sales aren't high enough he makes a loss.
Most promoters when faced with this situation will cancel the concert and possibly pay the artist some compensation.
For the artist, it's a no-lose situation. The promoter won't lose either as they will be insured against it. And in the main, the punters don't lose either as they get their money back. The only losers are those who have paid for non-refundable flights/accomodation etc.
Now you may ask why the management allow such a large venue to be booked when they suspect the demand for tickets isn't likely to be high; but
who knows, some artists have large followings in the strangest of places.

Jules, it's pretty much it.

Tickets are to be returned or sent back by 08 August 2007, from where they were purchased.
Sounds very familiar - the wimbelton gig, Jules? Remember? I just kept the tickets for kicks. The tickets were not very expensive.
I never did hear back regarding the 2007 festival in Port Angeles, WA. I did a lot of research, too. Provided information regarding where the band could stay, the limo driver company to use, and who to contact regarding the festival. No one ever emailed me back regarding the gig.
I also thought Dubai was scheduled for this past early summer - was that in May 2007. Did that also get cancelled?
Sadly I do remember the Wimbledon gig only too well - and still have the tickets.
Quite a lot of us were going to go and we were going to meet up. My sister lives near by and was suggesting pubs for us to meet up in! It was all planned.
It is a disgrace that this organisation never even got back to you Oshora. I wonder if Bob knows that they just dismiss ideas for gigs without even discussing them. It is really bad manners and puts the artist in a bad light. I think , (might be wrong) he is represented by different people now. I wonder how my Latvian friend will get on. He is so desperate to put on a concert. I forgot to mention though that his first language is Latvian, his second Russian and English is only his third. His messages are quite funny. He is a true Rats fan though and has been DJing since he was 16 and used to play the Rats in the clubs. Could be very interesting negotiations there. At the time of writing, the Florence gig is still on Sunday. I have my scouts on myspace looking for reviews, pics, interviews for me. (around 1600 now) Hope it goes well.
It is frustrating that I didn't get any reply at all, expecially since I offered my home, which is vacant, for Bob and his band to stay in - this is in Port Angles, WA. The manager could of at least let me know if the gig was not planned.
It would be nice to go to a festival in the UK where Bob is sure to play. It appears he likes to do them. Maybe he will return to the Winnipeg, Canada festival?
hmm do you think that bob ever hears about what his fans are saying, all these queries? did he ever know about what happened with the forum and the offical site? has he ever heard about any of this kind of stuff? or does the management, manage everything? i mean does he? do any of you guys know? sorry i've just realised that i've written a completley random post Dx but i was just wondering that maybe if he knew all this stuff then maybe he might want to provide an explanation himself =/

Not exactly no-lose if you care about your reputation and your career, which I don't think Bob does, to tell you frankly. I know I'll never got to any expense or trouble to get to one of his shows ever again.

I agree. If it was just his reputation or career (both have effectively gone, so doesn't care about them) then fine. What is worse is he doesn't care about people who buy tickets for the gigs.
Most bands/acts tour with a view to building a fan base; Geldof's approach has reduced his.

He did know. He's above replying, as are the Geldof management.
