Fine Art of Surfacing -> My Very First Rats Album

I was at a friends house one friday evening when the show "Fridays" came on . "Fridays" was a Saturday night live kind of comedy show . The musical guest was none other than "The Boomtown Rats". They Played the song "I Dont Like Mondays" and I was hooked . I remember thinking that the singer looked like he was in pain when he sang . I can't say I rushed out and bought " The Fine Art of Surfacing" , but I bought it as soon as I had enough money . This was my introduction to what is now one of my all time favorite bands . I am not one as a kid that had to listen to punk or new wave or any genre of music . I just think the Rats are simply one of the most fun bandsI have ever heard . I know to the die hard punkers, a fun band was to be looked down on , but I grew up making no apologies for the music I like .I was never looking to a group of musicians to preach their brand of politics or why the world is such a screwed up place . The Rats and especially this album reminds me everytime I listen the importace of just listening to something that make me feel happy .

I'm intrigued that there are so many teenage fans of Bob's, how did you discover him and his music, which was so long before your time! It isn't as though it is played regularly on the radio or anything
