Nigel Grainge founded Ensign Records and first signed up the Boomtown Rats in 1977. I have found him on myspace and asked for a friend add. It would be nice to have him on board. Very good interview from 1980 just prior to the release of Mondo Bongo. The Boomtown Rats are undoubtedly the most important band ever to emerge from - or get out of - Ireland. They've had more front covers, appeared on more radio and TV shows and most importantly sold more records than any Irish group...
..... 'At one point, I was living on the streets of London. It didn't bother me because I was young and I could get a sleeping bag and a sponge mattress in the crypt at High Holborn, or I slept at Gatwick Airport for a while. " Excuse my trivialisation! Probably nothing you didn't know about before,...

Acording to The Sunday people it is.(can you believe them?) Will he accept? It will certainly open more doors for him for his charity work. Just have to wait and see. IF he does, I think Jeanne deserves to become Lady Geldof, after bringing up his 4 kids. That is the least she deserves. And what will the p...
Greeting to one an' all, Been a long time since I posted here - just uploading all of my Rats albums to the i-pod, and there is ONE track missing. That wonderful B-Side, "All The Rage". If anyone has this one for MP3, much appreciated, haven't heard it in an age! Many thanks

So theres a new album! Horray! What would you like to hear? Well we all know Bobs a 'seanacai' (Irish for storyteller) I'd indulge and ask for someone like Che Guevara (maybe from the motorcycle diaries), Chris McCandless (because of the oblique idealism), Timothy Treadwell? (the grizzly maze) O...

Maybe the fact that it is a Monday has nothing to do with it. But yet more shootings in the US, this time a University Campus. Several dead. The song just somehow seems appropriate. Shockingly awful.
I have known, liked and admired Simon and Garry since I first became one of the most fervent fans of The Boomtown Rats many years ago; but I cannot accept that they are now performing as The Boomtown Rats and displaying posters and advertising passing themselves off as such. This is not fair to Bob, Pet...

This forum suddenly shrank. I couldn't work out what it was - but the music section seems to have gone and it looks like the topics have but merged into here. Is there a bit of a tidy up going on?
I suppose it is the ultimate accolade, when someone writes a musical about you. At Auckland Fringe Jonny Brugh and Danielle Cormack bring their poetic musical project Bob Geldof to the Fringe as Bob Geldof LIVE which promises to be nothing like long winded plays or a great exhibition of genius, but ma...

No link to the article, you'll just have to buy it (or read it at the airport/Easons like I did). Geldof waxes lyrical on Obama and even has something nice to say about George W Bush.
