Hi All can we just get back to anything to do with the rat's here. That's what the Other Stuff is for. I'm a Rat's fan If I need to know about any other then I will post this on the Other Stuff line. Thank you. That's my wee rant over LOL
If they ever decide to do it, it will look nothing like this. I stuck to the big acts/songs. Not sure all were UK hits, particularly Ramones and New York Dolls, but they are well known songs. Maybe cheating a little with the first four as they are sixties bands. So for those that don't like Boney M on t...
Yeahs ago there was a song that spoke of half moon bay, a friend named lee, the chorus was something like " over here over there it's the same everywhere. a boy cries out for his mama before he dies for his home ". i think it was titled EVERYWHERE. does anyone know this song ? thanks for the...
Hi to all my fellow Rat mates.Havent been on forum for a while but heres to wish you all a very merry Christmas and an extremely Rat filled new year.Hopefully there is going to be a lot going on. Ratification throughout the land Wes and Liz xx

Anybody watching or listening to the Derby vs Chelsea FA cup tie yesterday might have noticed the DJ blast out Rat Trap immediately on the stroke of half time in this FA cup tie. Captive live audience at Pride Park was about 32,000.
I thought it was Elvis Costello at the Albert Hall, but could be The Damned/Theatre of Hate/Ruts DC at Roundhouse last night or Rats in Cork, or Stone Roses/PiL/Johnny Marr at Finsbury Park or Wilko at Koko. Been a great year for top notch gigs. And the promise of more next year, already booked up for R...
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a source for the song lyrics for the newly released material like the 1976 song Doin' It Right? Or, if people want to help me, I will have a stab at it, but I can't make out some words and could use some help. Thanks! -- Edited by whynot on Friday 3rd of January 2014 08:57:2...
Fed up with people trying to sell kitchens on here, so have banned one of the IP addresses and will do the same to any others. Effing idiots. -- Edited by Scottie on Saturday 28th of December 2013 09:37:28 AM

Not 1 cd but 16.Includes 1 signed by Bob,2 live,1 box set,2 promo cd singles. The only 1 that is not a real cd is the Rat Life EP.Next to it is a 1 track promo cd single Rat Life.Never thought the Boomtown Rats would play together again never mind me getting all these cds.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS to all here in Rats-Ville, Just a quick query - I finally got my hands on an excellent quality version of the most sought after item in the Rats' canon, I'd always wanted to have 'Rock Goes to College' DVD, had a copy that was fair in quality, possibly 7/10, but found a download last night t...
I hope they will sell some nice things like '77 style buttons, bob's 77 style sun glasses, rats t-shirts and even maybe Garry Roberts guitar picks (don't know if he is that vain for using his own guitar picks). What do you like for selling merchandise stuff?
The superb live recordings of Vicar Street and Roundhouse are now available for an absolute bargain price: 3 CDs for £15 at Concert Live. I ordered this set of 3 Roundhouse live CD's to put 2 of them under the Christmas tree. Maybe if someone want to exchange a Vicar CD for a Roundhouse CD you can send me a...
I must say I really enjoy 'V Deep', and even though it probably is the weakest of the Rat's work, it speaks volumes for their work that this album is so good in itself. When it comes to the more experimental Rats, 'Bongo' is better than 'V Deep' of course, 'Bongo' is filled with top notch material with only...

Is this available on CD? Confess I'm being lazy and haven't checked the Rats compilations but from memory they all include album version. Was it on any like Teenage Kicks / Sound of Suburbs - i.e. not those but like them?
'Mondo Bongo' - an album by the Boomtown Rats maybe not as critically rated as the preceeding albums, but for me, one of my favourites and a wonderful progression from 'Surfacing'. I remember still getting my first Rats material - I had been to see Geldof solo, pretty sure it was November 2005, and a fri...
I could not find the original post but I have just got this rare live concert onto cd.Anybody who wants a copy please drop me a line with your adresse. It is ok quality and has an unknown song on it and early versions of some of the stuff from In The Long Grass.Just be patiant with me and I will send out copys in...

Greetings to one an' all, Listening to some absolutely wonderful Live CD's this past few weeks after witnessing the Boomtown Rats LIVE at Vicar Street! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toGX_MmVn6s Doesn't sound drastically diff, but has a slower tempo and killer beat I'm not too well versed in Rat's studio outtakes, but besides Peel Sessions, where does one obtain this track and others? I've heard of the Dudgeon sessions, are there many of them...
Hi All talking of the above I have just came across this in my addict. Forgot all about the poster's I have of the rat's Any way here's one when they where on the Fine art tour
C'mon Bob and his fellow Rats, I've loyally been here for you since 1978. Seen two of your tours here in NY/NJ. Still among some of the best live shows of the 150 or so I've seen, including the greats like The Who (2x); the Stones (2x), the Clash (2x), the Pogues (3x), Springsteen (12x), the Replacements (...
Personally, I'd plump for 1995 or even 1990, but I can go with 1978...Researchpublished last week in New Scientist magazineby a team from an Australian university claimed that 1978 was the best year of our lives. The study, conducted by the University of Canberra, based its results on an index ca...
I'm sounding out the possibility of a fans meet up, perhaps Spring 2014 in London. Would anyone be up for such a thing (unless there is a tour, it would have to be postponed)
so having highjacked jule's thread on harping back to 1978, sorry about that jules, i thought it best to start a thread of my own.... soo...... do we need leaders? what makes a good leader? what good examples of leaders are there today here in the UK? i think bob was a good example of a leader in this mod...
Many thanks for taking time and effort in uploading venue pics under each location. Good to get a feel for how the places differed, how the Rats were billed etc not to mention how much beer was consumed! Nice one

For the last few days Bob has been in the news. He is in dispute with a female neighbour over a gate access to his Davington Priory residence in Kent. Lots of comment but the best one must be this one from someone(Anonymous) who seems to know a lot about the Rats music, and is a quite clever response to the...
I ordered Gerry's CD "Urban Soundscapes" last week and sent him some compliments, because it's a beautiful piece of (acoustical guitar) music (http://www.gerrycott.com). Maybe it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I like this kind of (fingerstyle guitar) music very much and you can he...
Just been listening to Pete Briquette's interview for 'The Mouth Magazine' seemed to state quite confidently that 2014 was a busy year because there is a strong likelihood of these 2 things. It would be interesting to hear them side by side if it happens. Geldof's last solo album was terrific.
For my money, the Isle of Wight Festival was a revelation. In front of such a huge audience, the band sounded unbeatable and Geldof is a master at working such big venues. I went to see them at Bournemouth and the Roundhouse (which Gerry Cott's appearance was a huge moment) and of course the longer setli...

Suss knew the right answer to my question who the sax player was at The Roundhouse: Aaron Liddard. Thank you Suss! Brilliant. Just found good quality performance of WLWH from the gig in Bristol. Wondered had anyone filmed it ,and thanks one to Tony Gillespie we have a result! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-hFS4hUd7g -- Edited by noelindublin on Wednesday 13th of November 2013 04:42:00 PM
I made this Roundhouse' compilation just one day ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NejrNwVbTVk. By the way: I stood at Level 2 and I could almost reach up to the roof so I wasn't in the way of anyone else, so please no new discussions about that. And the Rats blew off the roof anyway. Sorry for the m...
Well, the train is leaving Boomtown, so I guess that's it. But in case any of the band happen upon the forum, I'd like to thank them for everything they have ever done. Couldn't believe my ears today. After the amazing gig at The Roundhouse I wondered if the guys of Concert Live could catch even some of the explosion of the Rats' (and audience!!!) energy. Well, they did. And they did f...ing great!!! Even without mixing, editing, post editing, post post editin...
Have been in contact with both venues. Neither have replied.
