There are a number of Tweets (including one by Chris Evans) that the Rats have confirmed CarFest 2015. That's both North and South - Hampshire and Cheshire. I'm hoping so, this 2014 South was over my birthday weekend. . Time will tell if this is true. -- Edited by Jules on Monday 22nd of September 20...

An old article I've found mentions the Rats being banned from the Dublin National Stadium and then Dublin Corporation went and banned them from playing some Christmas concerts at the city's Tivoli club (with the support of the local police, a residents' association and a local trade association....
I don't know if anyone else was listening to 5 Live this evening at around 6.30pm, but the Boomtown Rats had a very bizarre mention during the news programme. A reporter was building up to the Crystal Palace versus Sunderland match that was kicking off later that evening, and whilst referring to Su...
If you are planning to go to Cambridge, it has almost sold out. I did my usual messing around on the website and tried to book 10 tickets and was told there weren't that many left. Only when I went down to 6 did they become available and then the site showed it as sold out until I released the tickets. Now t...

Happy 62nod birthday to Sir Bobby of Boomtown. The offer is still for doing a gig in our local village hall, now there won't be ant Rats rocking out with the dinosaurs -- Edited by Jules on Saturday 5th of October 2013 07:19:16 AM

http://www.u2theearlydayz.com/boomtown-rats.html The band were working under the name of Mark Skid and the Y Fronts. They were offered the chance of a gig at Bolton St. Tech. This was a "free gig". Geldof turned down the offer on the rule that "we'll do nothing for free we're not h...
As suss suggested, twenty songs to choose from, but feel free to nominate others. I have picked the previously unaired songs from the first two LPs, singles and some B-sides, in fact those that realistically could be performed. You can vote for all twenty, but then the poll has little or no point. M...
The Us sets were pared down, but now it looks like the UK sets are going the same way. I reckon about half a dozen songs have fallen by the wayside since the Polo Club only to be replaced by the eponymous song. The Barton/Bradbury Rats were longer. By the time they get to London, it'll probably Eva Bra...
Hi, I'm going to Dublin for the first time. And wanted some advice of unmissable places of Rats history. I don't know the town. I am thrilled to be going to such a fantastic city. Thanks for your help.
Instead of dropping three songs, I reckon they should add three. List is not exhaustive, so feel free to nominate others. Make your choice... -- Edited by ArrGee on Wednesday 22nd of October 2014 08:57:58 AM
So Modern #2 Best of #8. (also #5 in punk chart behind Ramones, Pistols and Jam) back to boomtown and the box set are at #57 and #61 would be interested to know what sort of sales that translates into. Maybe the Rats are popular after all.
'What a way to spend a Sunday night' indeed . Geldof's voice seems fine and strong, just not sure why he stays rooted to the spot during a song in which he should move around a bit. Anyway who'd have ever thought we would see this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7BXXM_l9ZQ
Garry was on BBC Radio Stoke earlier this week talking in depth about the early days and the 'reconciling' of the last couple of years. Like Clockwork and Mondays played. Nothing earth shatteringly new for fans but he spoke nicely about enduring friendships and being there for Bob after all that has h...

I've just made the decision to go to the London Forum gig and have booked my flights for Fri 7 November. It was a choice between this one and Oxford but I decided for London in the end. Had to choose before the flights started rocketing but came away with a decent priced flight to/from London on a weekend. L...
The guy with the brown t-shirt IS BACK!!!!!!!!.My new t-shirt for London, ugly as poo but I had to do it.I hope to get it signed then I will put it on the wall with my brown Bob Geldof t-shirt.
http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5847118 details of the award bit vague in this but some interesting stuff on the return of the Rats and the forthcoming US dates. Plus Sting's Wiltshire pad.
No not the anniversary of Irish independence, something far more important. 2016 will be the 40th anniversary of the Rats formation (or is it October 1975?) Geldof mentioned before Rat Trap at Guildford something like 'it's a Rat Trap, we've been telling you this for the last 40 years.......' Wheth...
Hi there, Last month my wife and me went to Kent and Sussex for a short vacation. For the first time driving with my own car in the UK (we come from The Netherlands), so Keep Left!!! Just watching TOtP2, 1970s - recorded in the 00s, stars doing their old 70s Tracks. Alice Cooper has the same snakeskin suit on. Does Bob have his cast off lol?
I'm sure it was the beer hawkers at ****wick that put this mess together. Had us stand round until just past midnight for the band to hit the stage and leave not long after 105am. No sax player (recorded sax off the synth) was cheesy; sound was pretty ****ty and that stupid friggin "The Boomtown Rat...
Digital Spy reports the 2014 autumn tour will be accompanied by a new album entitled Ratlife, which will be a compilation of classic Boomtown Rats tracks and unheard additions. No release date as yet.
In the 26 years since the Rats last played together I always think about the younger generation who have gotten into the Boomtown Rats but have never seen them play live. Surely this reunion is a chance to let those 'newbies' get a chance to see what the band is like live. It's so easy to take for granted th...
Not sure if the sale is still on, but it is available at this price. https://www.concertlive.co.uk/product.php?id=182We were proud to have recorded Irish Icons The Boomtown Rats at two dates of their exclusive reunion tour throughout the UK & Ireland in 2013!After over 25 years, the Rat...
hi I was just thinking perhaps the worst Rats video is for Elephants Graveyard. The songs theme is the Miami race riots/ Liberty beach riots may 1980 which the Rats allegedly witnessed. Its quite a good song but the video is at odds with the subject matter as we see the band basically partying on the bea...
What is the fcuking point of it? Same two teams make the final every time. And can anyone hand on heart truly support the European Union aside from the bureaucrats in Brussels? Ranks alongside the boat race in pointlessness.
I reckon Mondays and Rat Trap are a given as the two most famed Rats tracks, but what next? Spotify has Banana Republic, but I don't know. Do They Know It's Christmas? doesn't count nor does The Great Song of Indifference. You decide..... Some options to vote for, but feel free to suggest others but...
just get your iPad out and download. There seems to be a lot of Rats like brackets (in the song titles). U2 - Songs of Innocence - https://itun.es/i6gn8YK #iTune Name Time The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone) 4:15 Every Breaking Wave 4:12 California (There Is No End to Love) 3:59 Song for...
Just been browsing You Tube. Interesting that 3 non-single songs from TFAOS are posted with the album cover as the profile pic and have different view counts. Is this any guide to how well regarded the tracks are or just random? Admittedly, Wind Chill Factor was posted in 2008 and has received over 20,...
Support band confirmed for this gig: http://www.wolvescivic.co.uk/-/show-details/102867.https://www.facebook.com/officialrepublicaI didn't know who they were until I listened. Better than Patrik, maybe. I hope! I'm also hoping for a greater variety of support this year.
How great is this wee song Just love this. Been starting to play this 1st album alot again Just like finding this album all over again. I really do think the Rats are really up there with the best of them. I get my kicks from you

There have been a lot of these on Amzon in recent months. Essentially they stick a new hit album and an old classic up for download for 99p.. Today's gems are 48:13 by Kasabian and Kick by INXS. For those like me who are too damn lazy to rip your CDs, this is superb.
Anyone know where this mix of Up al night came from??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ab3-O-jd_Jc Is it a mix left over from Toni Visconti, or has someone produced a bootleg version?? -- Edited by diffbrook on Tuesday 16th of September 2014 12:18:38 PM
Is it just me or is this wee band/record company taking the Piss How many times do they want to reissue the Beatles Albums in one form or another. I know they were a great wee band But give it a rest It's not as if Paul and co really need the money now Greed comes to mind
Know what I don't. get Why did the long mix of Rat trap, Mondays, Banana republic. Not come out in 12 ins mix. We had House on fire long mix Someone's looking at you single mix Tonight Dave and Drag me down same as the singles I feel I am going of on one here But you all know what I mean
Been asked to alert those who haven't seen them at gigs to the fact that Harrington jackets can be special ordered @ approx £60 if interested. Example shown below. All sizes available; if it's any guide this one was, I'm told, an XL and around 44" . Also been asked to co-ordinate any interest so R...
I'm thinking more of V Deep here. I doubt the Album would have been radically different, but perhaps Garry would have been more marginalised? I think ITLG would have had a more guitar base than it already did.
Bob will receive an award from the British Academy of Songwriters Composers and Authors in October for his work in supporting British songwriters and composers. http://basca.org.uk/
Greetings to all in Boomtown, This week is absolutely Boomtown week in my house; have been spinning all of their albums and quite a few Live bootlegs, as well as DVD's, all of this of course along with attending the fantastic show last Saturday Night 'In the Long Grass' is the lone Rats' album I never too...
In a similar vein to the post I just made, the official videos on You Tube for The Elephant's Graveyard and Never in a Million Years have received just under 6000 and just over 10,000 hits each respectively. How can this be? Graveyard reached 26 on the charts and Million Years disappeared after flirtin...
Dear Rats fans,We have been corresponding with Live Nation UK in regards to supporting The Boomtown Rats on their 2014 Ratlife Tour. We have not been chosen but we are in talks. 'The Cold Heart Revue' are a UK-based blues and rock duo. Formed in 2014, the band has made major city appearances at London'...
Just bought this from Eil. Com at sale price. 2 discs. The quality apart from 2 or 3 songs is superlative to anything I've bought before . Not sure if this is due to the way it was made but it's crystal clear. The worst track sound is, not disappointingly, Charmed Lives which sounds speeded up to the poi...
I have seen this with a few bands to date, and would love to see the Rats bring this out. Even the undertones have a cd singles box set out, and they only ever had one top ten hit
If you could have pick one song from each album to have been a single Which songs would they have been Boomtown rats Joey's on the street again Tonic Can't stop Fine art Keep it up Mondo bongo Hurt hurts V Deep He watches it all ITLG Hard times
I know this has been pointed out B4. But I did a bit of looking into this as to who was the 1st Irish band to have a number one in the UK charts, and trust me on this one it's The Boomtown Rats. The Bachelors song Diane did get to number one But only in the record retailer chart. And reached number two in the UK...
September in NYC and Boston... see ya at Terminal 5 on September 26! I am so freakin' psyched!!! Waited since the Mondo Bongo tour to see these blokes again.
Which of the two above song's did you think was the better No 1Rat trap took loner to get to No 1Mondays just blow the charts awayRat trap had a great story line So did MondaysMondays had a better videoRat trap more up beatHave to say both songs blow me away
After having a good old rummage in the attic I stumbled across this live gig from October 1990 I taped on VHS. Probably the best solo stuff Bob has done. He really had a decent band at that time, with Spike Edney, Geoff Richardson and Jamie Moses. Anybody still got that cucumber t-shirt!
Who else is going to this? ideas for meetup? It maybe very busy in the centre of Henley, I'm thinking of going slightly outside. Thoughts? I think they might be on stage at 4 pm, so maybe a midday meet?
Regarding the two above singles which do you think would have been to most successful? Or should have been the most successful? Tonight. I feel is a really good strong song full of good hooks and lines. When I fist heard this song I went happy days back in the charts again Then it fell without trace Drag...
