Does anyone have any updates about Pete Briquette's forehead? During the first number at the Roundhouse Geldof accidentally hit him with the tambourine and he bled for the rest of the night. Massive rock n roll high five to Pete for carrying on with the gig- and playing like a king. I wondered if he migh...
I've got a ticket for London, but if you want to see the Rats at another venue, don't wait too long!!! You really should have been there.. -- Edited by ArrGee on Thursday 24th of October 2013 09:50:36 AM
Been asked to put this out in as many places as possibleSpecial announcement: Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats are the first artists in history to use a new app available for free download from Gigit on Apple iOS devices. i was surfing the human website youtube and came across this:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aymnC9PR7AQ i felt something as i watched this video. but i find i cannot articulate what it was i felt. i can't put words to what i felt was happening at this concert..... truthfully, i am in fact Joanofa...
According to Bob we are going to become extinct in 15 Yeats. So this article says. It says there is a video, but I can't see it. Not sure what the context is, so reserve some judgement on what he has said. However, where's his evidence? Has he lost the plot . http://www.independent.ie/irish-news...

I saw the Boomtown Rats for the first time in Cambridge last night. They were great much better than I thought they would be. I just thought I might see if there are any ticleast left fe any of the other venues on the tour and if any of the other venues have seating?
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/oct/24/bob-geldof-boomtown-rats-songsbut be very scared if you read to the end...What else is there to do? I suppose I could write a song called Space Rat.Plea...
I have some American mates who are visiting England just to see The Boomtown Rats with me at the Roundhouse. They asked about 'Drag Me Down' because they are most aware of the band through their Live Aid performance. As a bigger Rats fan, I am 100% happy with the setlist. But 'Drag Me Down' is a great live n...
I saw the Rats in Bournemouth last nigh. The show was incredible. The venue was packed. 'Joey's On The Streets Again' was particularly strong. BUT they didn't go on until about 9pm. If they went on a 8.45 they could have comfortably fitted in Having My Picture Taken, Howard Hughes, Elephant's Gravey...
http://www.hotpress.com/news/Bob-Geldof-on-the-return-of-The-Boomtown-Rats/10310970.htmlIn the latest issue ofHot Press, he tells Colm OHare about his rocky relationship with Margaret Thatcher, why he will never try and re-create the past and how he got back into being 'Boomtown Bob...
If anyone is happy for me to post some of their Rats gig pics on my flickr page , please send them to me. It is monitored by me and me only. Will link to anywhere, It only shows the last 200 hundred, as I am to mean to pay for a professional upgrade. Typical Scot lol Cheers Irene http://www.flickr.com/photo...
With 19 songs played live in the public rehersals, I guess they don't really need anymore, but if I could add another two or three they would beDon't Believe What You ReadLiving In An IslandBlind Date Why should The Stone Roses be the only reformed band to play an album in its near entirety ? ==========...
Just watching the Chase. Q. Which band had hits in the 1980s with Banana Republic and Someone's looking at you. Choice of 3 answers. Contestant said saw them live in 1979 (me too). Bradley Walsh asked if the concert was good. Contestant 'brilliant'. Hope he wins lol.
On a total Boomtown high :) After witnessing the fantastic gig on Saturday night, have been re-visiting lots of my Rats albums yesterday, and some great Live CD's - Boston March 1980 being particularly great methinks It was amazing seeing the band, I never thought I'd see the Boomtown Rats play those...
Anybody think the tour in October and November might be filmed for a DVD? Seems a reasonable chance one might emerge, and it would make a nice souvenir. Maybe a full concert from the Roundhouse, and extras of the band rehearsing and on the road? Cork and Chagstock were worth recording but we were not su...
I see that Patrik Fitzgerald is the support act for the Boomtown Rats when I see them in Canbridge. That is a shame as I am not really a big fan of his. I saw him for the first time when he played a gig in Camden a few weeks a go. I went to the gig as my mate was drumming in one of the bands on the same bill as him called...
Someone on FB, who's not a BG fan, said she read there was a secret gig on a farm near her today. She's in East Grimstead. Guess it was just a warm up. Anyone know anything about it?
First of all, just in case you've not seen the Dublin meet up thread, I've changed it to The Hairy Lemon from around 3.30 pm http://www.thehairylemon.ie the next gig I'm going to after that will be Bournemouth, so I'll be looking to researching pubs near the venue shortly.
I am gathering fans' email addresses on FB because it might be useful to very occasionally send things directly to people. Promise, no spam. I don't have time or inclination to do that. Just Rats/BG purposes only. If you'd like to be included please PM me yours. Don't post it on here
Hi I have Two pairs of Tickets for the sat and sun at vicar street in Dublin for sale,if anyone needs or wants tickets please let me know, alas unable to go,offers accepted I don't expect to get what I paid for them...Would accept £20-£25 per ticket,if anyone wants all four I would be willing to sell for £7...
The Carte Blanche are a new London punk rock band seeking to support The Boomtown Rats on their upcoming UK tour. I have included a Soundcloud link to the recently recorded EP A Southern Saga which chronicles working class life in the South of England. We consider the Boomtown Rats to be highly innovat...
Appreciate people have posted in numerous threads about which tour gigs they will make or intend to make, but thought it might be good to consolidate on one thread so any potential meets could be organised. This is NOT intended to be a 'biggest fan' demonstration, purely a chance to see who might be in s...
Hi everyone! I just heard a song on Soundcloud that blew me away! So I came on here to let you all know about it. It's called Geldof. I dunno who the singer is but I LOVE it!!!! Does anyone know who he is???? I can only hear 3 of his songs but would love to hear more. Hope you can help! www.soundcloud.com/johnn...
According to the Independent Geldof and the Rats have agreed to play a gig at the Natural History Museum London. I doubt any of us will get in as it's a post charity ball, but you never know ..... The singer was offered the trip after his band, the Boomtown Rats, agreed to play a concert at a charity ball a...
The thrill of being able to download new Boomtown Rats material is wonderful. And I personally think 'The Boomtown Rats' is pretty cool and it really grows on you. It's cool for a band to make new sounding records rather than just nostalgia. So let's lay off the new songs- I personally think it's great
I'm getting hugely turned on to Led Zep........... amazingly brilliant band, i didnt really realise they were such an old band actually.... F@cking awesome yeh i know i been saying that i'm just getting into blur who seem to have a teeny little something about them but compare blur to led zep hahahah...
I'm getting very excited now, just realising in 3 weeks time the first gig will be over and I will be psyching up for the second (probably by sleeping lol). Who's up for a meet up for both or either? Any suggestions for places to meet? Was thinking Hairy Lemon, but that's 15 minutes walk from the venue....
Gerry Cott guested at Cadogan Hall 2011... Maybe a chance to get all 6. It would be tremendous. btw any rumours of a DVD of Roundhouse Gig? Could be marketed as a CD/DVD set with Classic Rat****s Special Edition
as the time fast approaches, one wonders, is the gig at the roundhouse in Londonium still happenin? 'google it ya lazy cow' i hear some of ya say..... sorry cant be arsed..... so is it still on? and who is going? Iam facebook friends with pete from the rats and he posted yesterday that there is a new ep coming out in october.I dont know any details but it sounds like good news to me,what next a new album?
Does anybody know if the Rats made a video for the Charmed Lives single? I don't think I've seen it it they did. Strange than they could have released a single without a video at a time when having a video was the emerging thing? Maybe it shows that things were not too organised- surely they would have thou...
Do the Boomtown Rats allow to use video cameras during their upcoming tour? I always thought it was up to a venue to use strict rules, but when I asked an employee of a well known venue recently, he said he didn't care at all, only when an artist clearly made his point before the gig NOT to use cameras or sma...

New podcast interview with PETE BRIQUETTE at The Mouth Magazine, talking; Rats reunion; new songs; RAT TRAP; I DON'T LIKE MONDAYS; early years; IN THE LONG GRASS; the 1986 split; and Geldof's THE VEGETARIANS OF LOVE: http://goo.gl/F6JqEu

Just has to make top 100, and although it is currently at 150 in amazon chart, there are a lot of pre-orders and non-qualifying compilations above it. Not in itunes top 200, so it may fall short.
Just leafing through the NME from June 1978 in the garden, cool beer, warm sun and golden review of ATFTT: 'A beaming beacon in the murk of rock and roll No two ways about - the boy's good A marked development on the auspicious debut album Like Clockwork is a well-constructed powerful pop song, the dense...
The Boomtown Rats are the first guests on the new run of the Late Late Show this Friday. The show should be available on the RTE PLAYER (RTE 1 TV) from Saturday. I don't know if it's doing a song or an interview. Announced today; very brief, tune in at around 8 minutes http://www.rte.ie/radio/radiop...
In top 40 of greatest hits CDs and top 20 of Punk/New Wave CDs and only six left in stock. *Still about 1,700 overall Will be interesting to see how the new compilation fares. Overall, the current Best of looks stronger, but I haven't heard either of the two new tracks. There doesn't appear to be a vin...
... not truly a big issue for the Rats as they either hit top spot or were a little way off it , but there are a whole load of great number two songs denied by what was quite frankly rubbish. The worst crime... Pulp - Common People number two to.... Robson Green & Jerome Flynn - Unchained Melody/(There'...
What is all this about being "Bobby Boomtown" ? Ain't a patch on Ziggy Stardust, is it? Maybe the album should be called Bobby Boomtown and The Rats from Venus "Bobby played Harmonica!"I'll get my coat...-- Edited by ArrGee on Tuesday 10th of September 2013 01:52:54...
Despite that and where it was published its pretty good: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-2405865/Bob-Geldof-Im-terrified-loneliness-poverty-Im-going-back.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
I know, I know.
The announcement of Bob's live gigs only appears on the site after confirmation by the management.
So, I probably won't get an answer to this enquiry. But I thought it worth a try.
"If" Bob is appearing at 'The 17th Annual East Coast Interna...
It was tremendous seeing the Rats on SkyArts over the weekend from the Isle of Wight!! Only two songs, but will check YouTube later for more, they sounded great; and Geldof 'dancing' and jumping around, obviously having a wonderful time I checked set-list, and some I say said they played the song, ot...
Now on Iplayer. I think he did really well hosting a 2 hour show with his own choice of music. Did not talk too much at all. Played a couple of Rats, the new one, and his daughter and son in law, but did not name them on air. Pixie has an amazing voice. Listen out for Violet. he said they are going to do this tour a...
Honestly not too keen on this, but it's a chance to hear the 'song' in full, live from Seenland Festival. Actung:Bob tries to speak German, until he realised that most Germans speak perfect English. Good sound and picture quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOAuyK1QPxA
We have started to get a few magazine articles (Mojo) and reviwes of the greatest hits, but will there be any live TV appearances by the band, prior to the Tour. The "Chat shows" of Norton and Ross etc should return in September, so do others think we may see an interview by Bob Geldof pluggin...
According to Everyhit Bob's Great Song of Indifference reached no 15 in the British charts in June 1990. I have a hazy memory of this period(for many reasons!), but cannot recall the song doing that well, nor even getting into the Top 30. Surely if it did that well Geldof would have been on TOTP performi...
I saw The Boomtown Rats at the isle of Wight Festival. I thought the set was out of this world. I've been looking at the full setlists for longer performances and really the set seems perfect. Well done!

A very good issue this month despite the Mumford & Sons cover. On P112 a very good review of the new hits LPs, well except for the two new songs and Mondays and the err ten year olds watching them on TOTP. But they did rightly say Rat Trap was an epic! -- Edited by ArrGee on Friday 26th of July 2013 07:2...
Not really a comment on the Rats performance, but what a fantastic reception for the Boomtown Rats at Chagstock. Total crowd appreciation and engagement, full of people who seemed to know all the album tracks as well as the singles, young, middle aged and 'old'. This is exactly the sort of rock and rol...
Ok, we expect to get there in the afternoon, but power head down to the festival until a bit later. There's one pub, so no need to discuss Meeting point. Who's up for it?
