Just listened to this CD the wife has bought it's ok songs not a patch on ghost in you or love my way but I've heard worse is give it a 6.5out of 10 as I say not worst I've heard but not best I've heard
Just for the interest. How many rats and solo Bob's 12 ins singles do you all have? For the rats I have 8. Geldof I have 5. And one Gung ho. one. Looking after no one. Someone's looking at you.House on fire. Charmed lives. Tonight. Drag me down. Dave. A hold of me.
Hi, I'm a big Rats fan. I wasn't around at the time so I've been very lucky to see them about 10 times since the reunion in 2013. I know 'Mondo Bongo' was their highest charting album at number 6 but it seems a much poorer effort that the first three records. 'Banana Republic' and 'Elephant's Graveyard' a...
John Foxx ( ex ultravox frontman before midge) and his band the maths are releasing an we album in August called howl have preordered it I have quite eclectic tastes in music so something else to look forward to as well as any rats activity
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE9dKUfdek8 I struggle with Dave being last, but this guy Richard generally nails it for me. What do you think? -- Edited by Mark L on Sunday 19th of July 2020 02:47:30 PM

Here's one for you all. When CDs started making it big. Causing the demise of LPs. What is was the last 3 albums you bought?. 1. if I should fall from grace with God. 2. So. 3. The Joshua tree. The only time after this would be any albums geldof would bring out. Don't know why. But I always bought the rat's a...

Go man go. A flu mask on your face. Lying Again ( All governments around the world). Me and Howard Hughes. Filling my body with filth and disease. Can't Stop. Doctor please, cure me quick. Don't Believe What You Read. I know what I read will be a lot of lies. Hard Times. If things are like this. Then maybe we...
I can see examples of songs not appearing in stats eg Talk In Code was played at Dominion Theatre. It is not listed despite the gig being recorded and released as a video. Anyway its interesting.
From Setlist FM screenshot. Seems fairly accurate. On the live version you can click on the songs to see where they were played. Another Piece of Red only listed once from a Canadian gig back in 1981. -- Edited by Noel on Monday 15th of June 2020 03:20:08 PM
Dunno if anyone liked them back in the day, but their new LP is worth a listen. For me, they are one of those perfect bands who never made a bad song, but then they only released two LPs back in the day. Also according to Spotify, The Vapors have The Rats first on the "also like" list and vice versa. So they mu...
Hello. I live in Canada. None of the online services will give me access to any of the new b-sides. Although I own every single Geldof/Rat song, I can't get/have never heard these: Ratlife Ratified No Tomorrow Like Today Does anyone know a way to purchase these (digitally) in North America? Thanks.
[As this is no longer online - an MP3 of this session is available. send PM to ArrGee for details]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn--nig3VWM 4 Rats songs uploaded by this lot with a familiar live version of Talking in Code, usual single version of the Elephants Graveyard and a version of this Ive not heard before. I also think the 4th upload, Wind Chill Factor is slightly different. Are the...
Just caught this in car driving off to get newspaper. Geldof did more talking than Moyles, a bit about Dustin making #1 with Rat Trap. Also solo albums is now 6 or 7. Coming down. They even played "Heres a Postcard" at the end. Single version is abridged without guitar solo, which is a shame.
Here's a thing I don't get. The gigs of 83/84/85. This song was always on the list. This over House on fire. Which happened to get into the top 30. But was never on the list. So the rats or geldof must have liked doing this song live. They must if heard something in this song. That my ears have yet to pick up.
This is from a French bootleg site I came across. It gives info about some French, Swedish and US TV appearances though there is no details of the songs they performed. Hard to find info on Don Kirsner 'concert's if indeed it was a full concert. They seemed to have been on French Studio 3 show a number of ti...
Is it just me. Or are two if the world's leaders mad. For some reason Trump. Wants us to inject bleach into our vains. Johnson thinks that his government has done a great job and giving themselves a big pat in the back. Even though the UK is now the 2 Nd worse C19 deaths in the world. This is the same governmen...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6Sb9iE9XqM Some Rats references and Paula Yates interviewed about her new book. This was a 3 part Christmas series from December 1980, starting with an interview with Tom Robinson launching Sector 27. A young Richard Madeley hosted and later in the series, a r...
This has been getting repeated on RTE one. 6 30.tonigh was 1978 shown the rats doing rat trap. Friday night was 1977 shown the rats do lookin after no 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ymfQ_Olz7I Nice clip but yet again most of the chart positions are wrong, with Bob stating this was number 2 in Germany and number one in Ireland. The highest this song reached in any country was 3. How hard is that to remember? -- Edited by Mark L on Thursday 28th of...
Hello. I can't seem to find Too Late She Cried anywhere. It's supposed to be on US releases of the How To Compose... but I can't actually find it. I have the UK and Canadian versions, which don't have that song. I think it's the last Geldof solo song I need to track down. Any idea where I can find it? Thanks.
2 geldof songs not in book talk me up which was beside to this is the world calling &let's get b side to I cry too. I wonder why Bob missed these out as they were quite good b sides just curious every other song though on the whole loving this book of lyrics
As the Rats won't be appearing on any more re-runs, Geldof turns up on a re-run scheduled for Friday. Think it is just a promo rather than a studio appearance. Coming to BBC iPlayer soon https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0001jgn
Well some time ago I mentioned that I had some photos from 78 Hammersmith Odeon that I couldnt find . Well today after 7 hours cleaning the loft out bingo.
Loved this song by the Specials. Watching it on YouTube. It's what came on after it that got me. Look this group out they bare called. The Interrupters. Songs called She's Kerosene. Look it up on YouTube it's great
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/22/no-rear-view-mirror-in-this-car-bob-geldof-on-love-loss-and-lockdown-bob-geldofWe needed to change our lives and the only way to do that was to get the **** out Ireland, Geldof says, adding that it always in...
I have 3 different versions of this album on CDs. 1 USA version other two UK version's. USA one has Mary and Joey on it. UK one from 1992 has all 3 B side of the singles. The 2005 one has Do the rat.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000jg41 Bob Geldof is in the hot seat! Bob Geldof joins Jools Holland for a rummage in the "Later..." treasure chest,
Is it just me. Or can someone please explain as to why from C19 has come on the seen. You never ever see the adverts advertising 5G phones?. Just wondering.
This government should be jailed. Just lie after lie after lie. Shame on each and everyone of them. I never thought bi would hear myself say this. But thank God for. Piers Morgan. None of the government ministries will even go on good morning Britain. Cos they know he would take them apart. Assh?Les the...
I know all the focus is on the big 4, geldof, crowe, Roberts and briquette let's not forget the 2others in the current line up Alan Dunn and Darren Beale who I feel are a crucial part of this latest line up (incidentally slot of reformed groups may only have 1original member ) where as we are lucky with 4o...
After seeing the three tracks from Citizens on youtube from Dublin. They had a magnificent energy to them. I'd love to hear any of the new tracks live just for the experience. But in terms of older tracks. They've never/very rarely have done since the 2013 reunion. Do The Rat Drag Me Down Elephant's Gr...
As a result of lockdown I have been sorting through my mp3s. All 35,000 of them. Anyway as I was worried about the 50,000 song limit on Google Play Music, along comes You Tube Music which allows 100,000 tracks and will transfer all the Google Play music across to boot. Just uploaded Citizens of Boomt...
I'm sure this has been covered B4. But here we go. 1 I don't like Mondays. The fact Gerry Cott has a cig. You would never see this in this day and age. 2. Rat trap Great image of the band. 3. Dave. Love this photo. 4. Mary. So young looking. 5. Tonight same as I TLG cover but love this. 6. A hold of me. Good image....
Paul Moody of Uncut magazine has given Citizens of Boomtown 8/10. Moody is a hardened, seasoned ex NME journalist so high praise indeed. Review was not very detailed but word runbunctious used to describe sound. Wasn't expecting such a high mark from a respected magazine like Uncut.
Singles aside. Pick two tracks from each album to come up with the. Album that would pick up any ear to say I must have this. I know too much time on my hands
Anyone ever got lucky and got front row tickets for a show? I managed the hat-trick this morning!Geldof - Cadogan HallGervais - Leicester Square TheatreDamned - London Palladium (Also arguably The Rats at Maida Vale, but I earned that one with my witty question ) Only problem is I believe I have t...
1 Joey's on the street again. 2 I never loved Eva Braun. 3 When the night comes. 4 Hurt hurts. 5 Skin on skin 6 Hard times 7 Here's a postcard. Hard to choose but I'll stick with the above.
Expect a special edition of the album https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidchiu/2020/04/21/bob-geldof-on-the-boomtown-rats-recent-reunion-album-and-the-legacy-of-live-aid-35-years-later/What am I regretful about, from my point of view, is that I like this album, Geldof sa...
Have to say. When I 1st Heard this album. I thought it's over. But as the years have gone by I find myself playing this album more and more. I have always loved. He watches it all. ( Should have been a single). In my opinion the only weak song goes to Charmed lives.
Hi, long time lurker , not quite so enthusiastic as most members here but during these lonely times decided to join. Huge fan back in the day but my enthusiasm waned after live aid......blah.. Does anyone know if this is Pete playing on TOTP with Kirsty in '81. I know there was a connection with Pete and Simon writing, maybe he filled in for the regular bass player. It looks like him and he's playing a Steinberg bass [which he started using in the 80s] best shot at 0:50 and 2.00 https://www.yo...
Glad I got up into the loft. Going through all my old albums and came across two rats imports. Forgot I even had them. I have them on CD. But forgot I had them in vinyl. All biss
Just listened to this concert he played happy club and hope to fill as well as earlier stuff must have had the 2songs in pipeline for happy club album( 2 years) later) great form seem to go down well with Germans
Looks like due to the lockdown. I have too much time on my hands. Been going over Rats And Geldofs video's. 4 of the videos start of with rain. 1. Never in a million years. 2. In the pouring rain. 3. Room 19 4. Trash glam baby. Don't know why I'm pointing this out. But Geldof must love the rain?
