I know there have been afew of the above out over the years with different titles. But I have seen what's now called gold. Which overs a bands singles over the years along with all the B sides and extended mixes. Well I have been calling for the rats to do this for sometime now. Would love it. If this ever hap...
It did really surprise me. I clearly remember my initial reaction to 'She Said No' was it's a fun if throwaway piece. I liked the guitar sounds and the swagger but I wasn't totally convinced. If I was asked directly I'd say I preferred 'Here's A Postcard' or 'Trash Glam Baby', 'Passing Through' or 'KISS...

Regards the above. Trust me we have di?khe?ds over here to. According to the above guy the reason for C19. Is due to A (God's) judgment on the way people live? I.e having a go for someone being gay? Fu?k me. This guy is something else. Read what he's put on Facebook.
Two weeks and Im done. And last weekend was punctuated by the Bryan Ferry concert and a small family get together. Now trash glam daughter is finished with school and Mrs. ArrGee will be home working. Not helped I have been struck with an ailment on Friday. From 9am this morning, I have been trying t...
Classic pop has eight page Rats feature, featuring Geldof, Briqutte and piece on Gerry Cott. Article was written prior to tour cancellation/ Coronavirus outbreak.
From Banquet Records Unfortunately we didn't receive enough of these in our initial delivery to account for what was a late rush of preorders - we've ordered more and are waiting for it to come back in from the supplier. We're told it will be back in later this week - we'll get it sent out to you as soon...

Maybe a bit general for the Rats board, but given the choice would you rather get a refund or reschedule? Personally, for most things I would prefer to reschedule even if I have to wait months. A few years ago, I got a Who ticket the night before a show and the next morning Roger Daltrey cried off with lary...
https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/18309668.amp/ Brighton Dome said tonight: "Following the UK Governments new advice today to the public to avoid contact in social spaces including theatres, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, Brighton Dome will be temporarily closed for events with...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000gd5q Janice Long presents a BBC Radio evening show and plays the Boomtown Rats....feels like the 80s again. Now in 2020, Janice is on BBC Radio Wales and interviewed Bob a few days ago. Tracks played include Shes So Modern, Mondays, Trash Glam Baby and Pass...
... now interest rates are going to be 0.1%. 12 years after the credit crunch there is nowhere to go. I am not sure we can just sit inside for months on end, the collateral damage will be too extreme. We might have to just live with (or die by) Covid-19 and accept the consequences...
Due to the times Ireland and England Scotland and Wales. Fines itself it. This song should be reissued as an A side single. Along with . Don't worry be happy.
Hello, I thought it might be a fun idea to pass the time to rank albums in order of preference from best to worst. The best being at the top of your list. Perhaps with a top 2 tracks from each record? The Boomtown Rats A Tonic for the Troops The Fine Art of Surfacing Mondo Bongo V Deep In The Long Grass Deep In T...
Now I've gotten my head around this new album. Here goes. Trash glam baby 10 out of 10 Sweet thing 9 out of 10 Monster monkeys 9 out of 10. She said no 10 out of 10. Passing through 11 out of 10 Here's a postcard 11 out of 10. Kiss 10 out of 10. Rock n roll 7 out of 10. Get a grip. 7 out of 10. Boomtown rats 4 out of 10. No...
Haven't heard it but two differing opinions on Facebook. One guy says it's really good, like 1978 Rats, Costello/New York Dolls influences/sound. Incidentally Pete Briquette concurs with this in reply to poster. Guy 2 says it's good, but no way as good as Trash Glam Baby. My take is that everyone has...
Given the book signings are off and the Croatia gig postponed. Also I noted Brighton date is not on Geldof Facebook page. i dont suppose interwebular communications will ever inform us of these things.
Hello, I've been really excited to hear the release. I listened to it privately first before reading the consensus on the forum. As delighted as i have been to have a brand new Boomtown Rats record to hear when I first listened I had to fight my own prejudice. 1. I had spent years listening to the first 6 a...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCH9CtTOqoM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHNls7pUDLo I think She Said No came over fantastically well. I'd love for the tour to go ahead. I'd hate to miss the chance to hear the new tracks live.
(can't belive we haven't had this question before, btw) so, yes...the question is simple, which rats-album is your favorite? Not counting the best of/ greatest hits! myself, I'll stick with the debut.. -- Edited by ArrGee on Saturday 14th of March 2020 01:20:23 PM
Hello, First of all, I'm very happy with the new song. I liked the opening lyrics straight away. I did feel a bit uneasy with the 'Trash Glam Baby' chorus at first but after listening to the track 4 or 5 times it has grown on me. The opening lyrics did seem sharp and lively. I do really enjoy the guitar sound...
German press report that tomorrow night's Geldof solo gig in Magdeburg , Germany has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Geldof's management confirmed this to the local newspaper. There are currently 46 cases of Covid19 in Germany and a lot of public events have been cancelled to deal with pote...
Can anybody provide more information of Gus Dudgeon's recordings with The Boomtown Rats. I've heard the reggae/rock version of Mondays and also Late Last Night and Joey.Did they record more tracks and in what timeline roughly? Any further information much appreciated. The version of Late La...
Might provide some hope for Citizens, but the new Who LP is pretty decent. Opening track, All This Music Must Fade is quite brilliant! I dont wanna get wise is also superb. Believe the hype, it is their best LP since Quadrophenia. -- Edited by ArrGee on Monday 9th of December 2019 11:21:30 PM
'Bono wants to hug the world - I want to punch it'https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/interviews/bob-geldof-interview-bono-wants-hug-world-want-punch/amp/I need to be constantly frantic and I keep going until my brain says, Stop, please! And then I sleep. On the table between us at his...
32 years ago today, Diamond Smiles peaked at 13 and so got an outing on Tony Blackburn's Pick of the Pops today on Radio 2. Blackburn managed to crash the vocals at the end of the second chorus and then mangle the group's initial name into 'The Midnight Thugs' and then said he'd heard it said the group thou...
Both these songs from Minehead are now on YouTube. I've listened a few times. Initial feeling is one of disappointment. Too many oh oh he's in Get a Grip. One part sounds like I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea mixed with 'swamp rock'. Way to repetitive. Might work better on the recorded version where the whol...
Meanwhile, back up Shady Alley Cats and dogs can barely breathe The sky is golden That air is moltenThe tar is bubbling up beneath your feet----------------------------------------------------------------I wonder from which track off C of B?
Didn't realise gig was so close! I wonder will we get to hear any of the new songs live next Sunday before the album comes out? Most likely Trash Glam Baby will get first live outing and maybe Monster Monkeys as it is likely to be the next single. This speculation is based on Dave McSavage interview with Bo...
The GOLD LP is exclusive to Independent Stores and HMV, so there is a chance The Boomtown Rats may do a show. Banquet Records https://www.banquetrecords.com/events do quite a few and have some up and coming acts like The WHO doing a couple of acoustic shows.
Two of my current fave songs are Forever Young by Bob Dyland but also sung very well by Chrissie Hynde in the Pretenders. and If I could change the World sung by Eric Clapton. also love come up and see me by ****ney rebel. dunno but think that current music sucks pretty much, in fact it makes me feel a bit ill...
1000 copies of Trash Glam Baby have been pressed. Bob has a copy of one at end of Paste magazine interview. Not sure yet of release date. https://youtu.be/A4gewV9_JPM -- Edited by Noel on Wednesday 12th of February 2020 12:42:37 PM-- Edited by Noel on Wednesday 12th of February 2020 09:32:29 PM
A bit of wild speculation, but 28th March headliners haven't been announced for Teenage Cancer Trust. The Rats are free that Saturday. Not saying they would headline, but could be support for someone bigger like The Who are also between gigs. And of course it is march 28....
Looking through the Rats album and single covers and on the whole, there were mostly pretty bad. There are some good single covers for Looking After Number 1, Mondays and Someone's Looking, also Tonic and V Deep have good album covers, but elsewhere they generally look crap. Surfacing could well be...
Great interview with Bob . https://youtu.be/A4gewV9_JPM Maybe someone can get link working. I copied link address to clipboard then pasted it to forum. Otherwise just Google Geldof Paste magazine. A thousand copies of Trash Glam Baby have been pressed so vinyl release should be soon. -- Edited by...
It's odd that the Chairman of the BBC is making a convincing case for no licence fee. No Royal Weddings? No Olympics? No Strictly? No Gavin & Stacey? Sign me up for that! Also mentioned was Gary Lineker's comment about making the fee voluntary. I agree. Why the fcuk are we paying for a jelly fi...
Interesting that three of my favouriite artists use the word cnut in their songs... Cnuts can Fcuk Off - Julian Cope https://youtu.be/Cr4ro5XTFVk - Guess who I saw this weekend.Cnuts are still Running the World - Jarvis C0cker (I hate this fcking profanity checker!) - It's in no way a criticism o...
Out Today, Classic Rock Edition 272 page 105, on Tour Dates page. The Boomtown Rats with their dates boxed and recommended. Check it out in WH Smith. Not worth buying for The Rats reference but there is an odd article about Slade and skin'eds! I suspect that issue 273 will at the very least have a rev...

I promised that I would explain the reasons for this d...
After reading Pete Bremains EU Facebook nonsense I discovered more nonsense from Geldof. He seems keen for the UK to remain in an anti-democratic organisation with a view to making it more err Rock n Roll. Give me strength. I wonder if Bob and Pete Bremain have ever considered how many floating (sic...
I am off to see Razorlight at the weekend and remembered that the three singles off their eponymous LP had highest positions of 3, 2 and 1 with the top 3 songs. Wonder if any band has 4-3-2-1 or better with their top 4 songs. Rolling Stones have 3-2-1 as well but with umpteen songs. Razorlight also made...
Sam and Daz at Breakfast - 27/01/2020 - BBC Sounds https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08077xc Starts at 2.25 approx. Sorry not sure link is working. Short interview with Bob Geldof. Bob says TGB was obviously choice for single, slags off West Midlands accent a lot, recalls Simon LeBon sleepin...

Watched Soccer AM on Saturday and can't decide whether featured up and coming Liverpool band "Rats" (https://www.facebook.com/pg/officialrats/about/) is good news or bad for the Boomtown ones. It does mean more people will be drawn to references to (Boomtown) Rats articles and gigs I guess, bu...
If you had to pick one Rats song as a favourite for lyrics only what would it be? I'd go for Eva Braun personally; the notion of Hitler effectively giving a Hello type interview and the hurt self-defensive theme throughout is genius. Just picturing the man saying the lines brings the song alive for me. D...
