I just think this is really funny. I giggle every time I read it. A nice way to meet the stars, selling ice cream. "Kem has been serving ice cream in Battersea Park since he was eight years old and is well known among the London stars. "I have served them all," said Kem. "Geldof, is a n...
Geldof just has this knee jerk reaction to all forms of criticism. I understand that he wants to protect his children, but there has been a book or two on the subject and given the whole story was played out in the press, a documentary/dramatisation wouldn't be too surprising. Is he scared he will be...

Hey guys: I was searching for something else and ran across this. Have you heard of this book? It's called "Uncommon Sound" and it is a book about all the different left-handed guitarists (like a biography type of encyclopedia of major left-handed guitarists in all the different m...
Just saw this post. I'm glad YOU are OK, Bob! BOB GELDOF was left shocked and shaken after a motorcyclist crashed into his car - but is relived the biker escaped without serious injuries. The former Boomtown Rats frontman was doing a U-turn in a busy London street when the motorcyclist suddenly colli...
Thought you might like to see these 18 pics from 1979. I think Canada, or possibly USA Have asked for more info. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jlacpo/sets/269990/
I hope I have not stolen your thunder Debs. As I am going away tomorrow, I thought I would put this up now. Watch Bob's talk at the Roger Williams University in the USA. Bob is an inspirational and natural speaker. I have heard him. This is your chance to watch his talk. I have not watched it all, but it is ov...
I'll start by saying sorry if this offends but are people on here not getting a bit tired now of Bob trying to save the planet. is it not time too produce a new album for the fans or is that just selfish
ADMIN: This breaks rule - Do not solicit or advertise. Had it acually been rare then I would have left it, but it isn't. The whole concert is incorporated into the Best of the Boomtown Rats DVD. -- Edited by ArrGee at 11:56, 2007-07-19
As Bob says, what was the point of it all? Not only that - what about the all the energy used to stage it all, all the rubbish generated from it, all the unnecessary travel people did to get there (cars/planes/buses/trains etc)?????
Funny who you meet on myspace. I have been chatting to a major Boomtown Rats' fan in Latvia. He also happens to be the country's biggest music promoter. I dont know how easy or hard that is, to be Latvia's biggest( or only) music promoter. He is desparate to put on a Geldof concert and has promised excelle...
I came accross this lovely article about Phil Lynott's mum, Philomena in a local newspaper. It is 21 years since Phil died, at the young age of 36. A guy from Berwick, called Steve is a massive fan and does a Lynott tribute act. Earlier this year, he visited Lynott's grave in Dublin's St Fintan's cemetry...
MoinMoin! In one of the sequels to the best-selling series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency author Alexander McCall Smith made a sweet reference to Bob. Its quite ridden, but - then again - knowing Bob, I think it is rather obvious all the same: Heres the quote from the book: How slowly the hours ca...

I went to see the best tribute band/artist I have ever seen last night. If you put this band on the radio you would truly think that you were listening to Meatloaf, Ringer is that good. The set is a story told by Meat loaf songs and a few others drawn in to piece it together. There are 4 female 'backing' si...
This is hilarious. The video for "Room 19". Bob in the circus and riding unicycles ,if you believe what you see. A younger, thinner Vince, Alan with a mop of hair and a few other stars. Also lots of people from his other videos. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1qMlB1beSPs
Fantastic news that Alan Johnston was finally freed yesterday. He wrote this for today's Independent. His last paragraph really makes you think: In his own words: Alan Johnston on his release 'You have to have been a prisoner to know how good freedom is' Published: 05 July 2007 The past 16 weeks we...

Bob has appeared in an ad for Australian mobile phone company Telstra. He is shown being ejected from a plane after refusing to turn off his mobile phone. The MD of the company says that one of the reasons Bob agreed to do it is because he was once banned from a Canadian airline after twice been thrown off a...
I see that Istanbul is cancelled next week by the promoter. The ticket agency is now advertising Geldof at the Istanbul Arena on Friday 7 September, which is the same week that he is in Poland. This has not been confirmed by geldof.info,I must stress, but is on the ticket agency site.
I thought you might be interested in this. Christine, or also known as Celtic Christine was a much respected member of the old Geldof forum. She was also on Myspace for a while and some of you came across her there. Unfortunately these days she doesn't get the time to get involved in this forum due to he...

What did Gary Moore do with Geldof ? I know Geldof was on stage with him for Self Aid ( they did Whiskey in the Jar), but did the collaborate on anything? The article is predominately about Phil Lynott, but had little snippets on Bono & Dylan as well. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/enterta...

She is...
On 6th May 1977, the Boomtown Rats played their first ever U.K. gig at the Lodestar at Ribchester. Apparently Geldof, and presumably the rest of the band, stayed at the Victoria Hotel in Clitheroe and charmed the locals in his inimatible manner! www.oldclitheroe.co.uk/page49.htmA very little kn...

I have been going through a stage of reading books based around the 2nd world war. There are two I'd highly recommend to people who might be interested in this topic. I saw an absolutely brilliant show last night. "Sunshine on Leith" (Leith is a dockland area and suburb of Edinburgh, but used to be a separate town ). The show was written around the music of The Proclaimers from the last 20 Years. Hits like "Letter To America, 500 Miles, Sunshine on L...

I love this story, from Hay Festival by Peter Florence. Its the after-hours stories that often resonate longest with me. Take Bank Holiday Monday in 1999, which was to end with Bob Geldof playing his rootsy folk-rock concert, after Norman Mailer had been holding court earlier that day.Mailer had ya...
A good 4 page colour spread in this week's (22 May) Hello magazine. Some new pictures. A moving interview, when Bob talks about losing his girls, among other things. Page 84. Well worth buying. Includes one of the nicest pictures I have seen of Bob. -- Edited by Scottie at 20:28, 2007-05-16

http://bpfallon.com/about_bp.html After all, few on the showband circuit shared the resourcefulness of the Rats' publicist, BPFallon. Would there have been a more inventive way of introducing DJs and journalists to the BoomtownRats than by sending them a parcel with a dead laboratory rat dous...
