http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06y8xm5 27 days to listen to Russell Davies talk to Bob Geldof about his personal life and art, with Rat tracks and solo songs acting as a soundtrack to the discussion.
Anyone in or near Aberdeen can recommend this for a night out tonight. Darren Beale from Rats playing guitar for Saffron as they cover old punk classics plus Republica hits
I just got the new Suede LP and it is recorded at 45rpm and it sounds absolutely brilliant! Well it did once I realised it was a bit slow at 33rpm. Just shows how wrong Elvis Costello was to groove cram on his LPs from Get Happy!!http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/why-45-rpm-great-4...
Forgot to mention last one of these at 100 Club late last year, but Darren Beale will again be joining Saffron from Republica next week at Half Moon Putney. I'm going along if anyone else fancies it? Blurb is "Saffron from Republica will be performing a solo set with a mix of Republica hits, punk c...
Haven't had a poll for a while, and as The Laughing Gnome would obviously be the greatest single, it's harder to pin down the greatest album. Choose all your favourites!

I mentioned on the rip bowie thread that I am a medium. (that doesn't charge money for readings - I got another job that pays the bills :)) so anyway, some will dismiss me as a fruitcake. and I can't say I blame them, such is how hard it is to comprehend any kind of communication to this world beyond the grav...
I wish I could have a conversation with bob. yeh I know, I had a crush on him for some time, and I behaved like a 40s something school girl - plus maybe even a bit distasteful considering he's spoken for etc. but I'm over that now truthfully I would love to speak to bob I love his passion I want to talk about...

Meant to post this a few weeks back; this is a link to that fortnightly magazine some of us will have bought back in the day and a chap called Brian McCloskey has kindly uploaded every issue up to around late 1982, which obviously takes in much of the Rats' career. Some interesting articles/photos are do...

Just like to wish all you Rat fans and your families' A very merry xmas and all the best for 2016. Hope to get to meet some of you again at a gig near you
Being the proud owner of all 6 Rats albums, and upon seeing the waft of Greatest Hits in the shops this week for any and every band under the sun for Christmas, I thought I'd like to purchase one of the Rats' compilations to play in the car, or at home.. I know there's not many; and 'Best of' from 2004/2005 lo...

What a gig! nice surprise guest appearance from the Strypes, who joined the Rats to perform Never Bite The Hand That Feeds. enjoyed the trouble pilgrims. Great atmosphere. Here's to - another 40 years. Well maybe not that long, but forever Rats.
Howdy All, Following Sunday nights' terrific gig, I'm re-listening to every Boomtown Rats album, all 6 of which are darn fine, nay, excellent! V Deep has always been a favourite; the musical journey from the first album through the V Deep is extraordinary; never a band to take the safe option, they...

Good luck to those travelling over today and tomorrow. Many cancelled flights today due to Storm Desmond. There will be delays and backlogs as they catch up. Some fans have no way of getting here, no flights until Monday or pay a full fare or very late flights etc. Hope we can get home on Monday.
Teenagers in wild panic in their bedrooms all over the UK! Google Chrome could not load the web page because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
There will be extremely limited edition individually numbered t-shirts produced for Sunday's Anniversary gig in Dublin, 50 in total. Given that band, friends and crew will no doubt snap up first few, it's possible only 20-30 may remain for public sale. Sizes range from small to XXL, but I've no ide...
To celebrate the Rats 40th anniversary Bob Geldof was on the Miriam O Callaghan show on RTE Radio 1. I missed this but it should be up on the RTE radio player soon(no up as of yet) but hopefully by tomorrow. I'll link to it when it becomes available. From the given details it's Geldof retelling his life sto...
thoroughly enjoyed this, very interestin. It's only been open a few months. The young man who was our guide acknowledged there is not enough of the Boomtown Rats there and that they played an important role in Irish rock history. I think they will be getting more. Perhaps I could have offered to be an ad...

Mark( who does the merchandise for the Rats) mentioned that the band are due to appear on the Johnathan Ross Show sometime this season. No other details.

Saw this when it was in cinemas in the summer and loved it. It's now on iPlayer 'till Christmas, definitely recommended. Just had a glance at UK top 40 for first time in an age. Given that he's a) not the greatest talent since Beatles b) not dead, HOW can Justin Bieber occupy 3 of top 5 slots, with another track at #15??? It's not that I'm a non-Belieber, I just fail to see how with all the material available he's shifting enoug...
Currently listening to Silver by Echo and the Bunnymen, and Lean On Me ( I Won't Fall Over) by Carter USM. It's interesting how some songs help with bad moods and generally inspire and lift the spirit. I could list lots of songs that are fairly positive in terms of lyrics and upbeat rather than being mise...
Well I just bought tickets to see U2 on October 30th (Fri) in London. The Rats had better NOT be doing a date then. I will be mad. You can't sell the U2 tickets. Bet they do another one in Oxford that night
This picture keeps coming up on FB on my newsfeed, if it isn't FB advertising it is one of my friends tagging me on it. You can actually order a hoodie, t-shirt, phone case or mug with this on it.
Now I like The Stone Roses, but I find it hard to believe that they have sold out four dates (well some seats left for the fourth) at the Manchester City stadium next summer. I saw them at Finsbury Park and it was popular enough, but there were shed loads of tickets knocking around, some at far less than fa...
Hi All, A great show on about the above band The Nation's Fav Beatles No 1. This should be great. Best Mc Cartney song for me goes to Hey Jude.(He never bettered this) Lennon hard to pick ,so many good one's
The Rats were in the top 5 this moth 35 years ago, with this song. The last real big hit for them 1980. Again just like Rat Trap, sound's just as fresh today as it did all them years ago
I'm currently reading Elvis Costello's memoir/autobiography, 'Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink', which just mentioned a couple of Rats: Bob Geldof and his pal Phil Lynott were the loudmouth Dubs that you always found in your dressing room when you came off-stage at the Roundhouse. They...
Hard to take in this song was No. 1. 37 years ago. My God how the years have gone by in a flicker. This song is still as fresh today as it was way back in the cold days of discontent 78/79
... and almost to the minute..... ....The Nightlife Thugs played Dublin's Bolton Street College of Technology. This gig was arranged by Gerry Cott and after some prompting from Bob Geldof, he negotiated a fee of £60 (£10 each!). After playing for over an hour the band took a break. On their return, Bo...

Alot of you do not seem to like this song But I think it's great Does anyone know if Cott himself done a version of his own song I like the way he has a wee dig at geldof in it(wonder did bob know when singing the lyrics)
Hi all, If any of you want a copy of this dvd just let me know I recorded this of RTE way back in 011 "22nd July 011 a mixture of songs and what Bob does best talking
Anyone been to the cinemas lately for a good movie? Recently I've seen the new version of Macbeth with Michael Fassbender. And last week I went to see The Martian(in 2D) Both were very good. Next up is the new Guillermo Del Toro film Crimson Peak, which promises to be a classic.
The Labour Party has once again thwarted my holiday plans, this time by having a sodding leadership contest, so am compensating by starting to fill my calendar with London gigs. Recommendations gratefully received. Currently - Tom Robinson and Kitten Pyramid at the QEH 18th September (saw Tom a fe...
